Thank you for your interest in applying for SHOWSEARCH 2024. Please find information about the competition and instructions for submitting your application below. Note that all applications must be received by Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Eligibility

Writers residing in Southern California currently enrolled in high school or college are eligible to apply for SHOWSEARCH. Writers may apply as individuals or as teams (note that cash awards are split between team members) in the appropriate category. Applicants under the age of 18 must receive permission from a parent or legal guardian to participate in SHOWSEARCH.

Application Process

To apply for SHOWSEARCH, please follow the following steps:

1. CREATE: Create a 10-minute narrative musical. Subject, style and genre are completely up to you, but all work must be original or you must legally control the underlying rights to the source material on which your piece is based.

2. RECORD: Record a reading of your musical. Recordings should be locked-off, un-edited, recordings that display the entire piece in one take. An example can be found here.

3. UPLOAD: Upload your video recording to YouTube. You may keep the link unlisted, but please do not password protect the video.

4. APPLY: Complete a SINGLE application for your project by using this link. Projects with multiple team members should list each member on one application.

5. INCLUDE: Include the YouTube URL of your video recording and a PDF of your 10-minute musical script in the application.

6. SUBMIT: Submit the application and celebrate your accomplishment!
